Merlin E. Smith

Merlin E. Smith, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Wedgemere Healthcare in Taunton on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was the husband of the late Frances M. (Furber) Smith. Born and raised in Lancaster, NH, he was a resident of Stoughton for over 25 years. Merlin was a Seaman in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of World War II. He was a painter for many years before retiring at age 62. Mr. Smith was a member of the VFW Post 1645 and AMVETS Post 1977 both in Stoughton. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Merlin was the father of the late Louise Mallen, Linda Patchell and Ellen Boudrot. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
