Melwyn B. Fine, MD, died Thursday, February 2, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of the late Helen B. (Chronis) Fine. Born in Boston, he was raised in Mattapan and was a graduate of Boston Latin School. Dr. Fine continued his studies at UMass Amherst for his Bachelor's Degree and Tufts Medical School. He worked as a Medical Doctor and was one of the founders of Park Medical Group in Stoughton. Dr. Fine was the Chief of Endocrinology at the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton and the Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton. For several years, he was an instructor at Boston University Medical School. He was an avid golf player and a longtime member of Thorney Lea Golf Club in Brockton. He was a member of the Mass Medical Association and the Mass Endocrine Society. He was a fan of the Patriots and Red Sox and, in his free time, enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dr. Fine was the father of Natalie Pettey and her husband David of Taunton, Diane Fine of Stoughton and the late Kenneth Fine. He was the grandfather of Kristen Pettey of CA. Dr. Fine was the brother of the late Morris Fine and is survived by his sister in law Dolores "Dolly" Fine of Sharon. He is also survived by several loving nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held in the Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater on Friday, February 10 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be held after the services at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton from 2-3 PM with Family Reflections at 3 PM.
