Matthew C. Mastandrea, 39, passed away July 2, 2023, unexpectedly at his home in Randolph. Born in Quincy, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and attended Stoughton Schools. In 2012, he married Rosemarie J. Plati at St. Bernard’s Church in Newton, and they shared the last 11 years together, and enjoyed raising their beloved daughter Layla. Matt has been a resident of Randolph for the past 13 years. He worked as a Warehouse Manager for several area firms for many years. Matt enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and looked forward to Bike Week in Laconia every year. He loved classic rock, Eric Clapton and Bob Seger, and was an accomplished cook who enjoyed working the grill, making stuffed hot peppers, M&R BBQ sauce, and also enjoyed fishing. He was a gifted handyman who was known for his compassion, big heart, and his spirited and respectful ways. He loved annoying all of his family with dad jokes. He will be missed by all including his cat Smokey.
In addition to his wife Rosemarie J. (Plati) Mastandrea and his daughter Layla R. Mastandrea, both of Randolph, he is survived by his mother Joan K. (Fay) Mastandrea and Pat Murphy of Stoughton, and his sisters, Katie Hinchey and her husband Bill of Hanson, Sarah Cole and her husband Michael of Whitman, and Michelle Mastandrea of Rockland. He was the uncle to Billy, Sammi, Niko, Sophia, Ziggy, Mila, and Felicity. He was also a friend to a group of boys who were more like brothers. He was the grandson of the late Beatrice (Green) Fay and Charles P. Fay, Jr., Martin A. Mastandrea and Susan (DeYeso) Mastandrea. Matt was the son-in-law of David and Josephine Plati of Newton and the brother-in-law of Domenic Plati and his wife Paula of Shrewsbury and Jacob D. Plati, Jr. of Clinton. He was the grandson-in-law of Rose Plati of Newton and the late Domenic Plati. He was predeceased by his father Martin G. Mastandrea. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
