Matilde V. (Alves) Andrade, 81, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of John Andrade. Born and raised on the island of Madeira, Portugal, she was a resident of Madeira until 1966, when, along with her husband and young family, she moved to the United States and settled in Stoughton, where she has lived since that time. Mrs. Andrade worked as an Assembler for Northrup Grumman in Norwood for over 24 years, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the Portuguese National Club and was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church Choir, both in Stoughton. A gifted seamstress, In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, canning fruit and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Andrade is survived by her two daughters; Connie Medeiros and her husband Tony of Taunton and Diane A. Neuharth of Stoughton. She was the sister of Francisco Alves of Stoughton, Domingos Alves of Venezuela and was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Andrade was the grandmother of Christopher, Kevin and Alexander Medeiros, Jordan and Taylor Neuharth. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Thursday, March 1, at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM.
