MaryAlice (Buckley) Cottle, 73, died peacefully at Keystone Assisted Living Home in Buzzards Bay on Saturday, May 28, 2023. She was the wife of 40 years of William E Cottle. Born in Boston, MaryAlice was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton. Following Spellman, she attended and graduated from Boston University and later earned her Masters Degree from Suffolk University. MaryAlice was a resident of Stoughton for many years before retiring to Buzzards Bay over 20 years ago. She worked as a Business Education and Computer Teacher at Stoughton High School and the O’Donnell Middle School in Stoughton for over 30 years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of the International Society for Business Education and the Massachusetts Teachers Association. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, attending Estate Sales, spending time on her computer, camper trips with her husband, reading British mysteries and spending time at the Cape Cod Canal.
In addition to her husband, Bill, MaryAlice is survived by her step children, Kevin Cottle of CT and John Cottle of Kingston. She was the sister of Eleanor Terry of Stoughton and is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and a large extended family.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in MaryAlice’s memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 637 Cambridge St., Brighton, MA 02135 or at www.csjboston.org or to support caregivers at the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, POB 370, Hyannis, MA 02601-9978 or at www.support.givetocapecodhealth.org/donate.
