Mary C. Watkins, 81, a longtime resident of Taunton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. Born in Waltham, daughter of the late Charles M. and Susan G. (Dolaher) Watkins, she was raised in Canton and was a 1958 graduate of Canton High School. As a young woman, she worked at Holmes Auto in Canton and Marshfield and was trained as a mechanic and continued this skill throughout her life. Mary had a small engine repair business that she ran for many years before taking a job at Home Depot in Taunton and later in Bridgewater. She worked at Home Depot as a Power Equipment Specialist for many years before her retirement. She also worked as Event Security at Gillette Stadium. Mary was an animal lover who always loved having a pet; either a cat or dog. Whether it was spending summers in Green Harbor as a child or fishing on the Lower Cape, Mary always spending time near the ocean, as well as camping, fishing and hiking. Above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family.
Mary was the sister of Teresa M. Maloney of Brockton and the late Susan G. Carroll and her surviving husband, William of Canton and Mashpee. She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Kodi. She was predeceased by her friend Sandra Mackrory.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church, 675 North Main Street, Raynham on Friday, January 28 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Omitted due to Covid Restrictions.
