Mary Frances (Hastings) Shea, 90, a resident of Canton, died peacefully at Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton on Monday, January 18, 2016. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Shea. Daughter of the late John V. and Mary F. (Donovan) Hastings, she was born in Boston, raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Mary was a resident of Canton for the past 2 years after living in East Bridgewater for 12 years and Brockton for 34 years. She was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed traveling and swimming. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Shea is survived by her children, Virginia Shea Thurler and her husband Dan of Canton, Thomas J. Shea, Jr. and his wife Regina of Bridgewater, Theresa L. Castiglia and her husband Frank of St. Cloud, FL, Michael V. Shea and his wife Brooke of W. Bridgewater and Christopher A. Shea and his wife Kathleen of Brockton. She was the sister of Barbara Bragg of Pocasset, Joan Drivick of Lady Lake, FL and the late John, Henry and Paul Hastings, Grace Tolland and Alice Conley. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, January 22 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at The Gardens at Gethsemane in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Hellenic Women's Benevolent Association., 601 Sherman St., Canton, MA 02021.
