Mary A. Pappas, 95, died February 23, 2016 at the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. Daughter of the late Charles and Angela (Gianopoulos) Pappas, she was born in Ipswich and raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1940 where she was a member of the basketball and field hockey teams. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. Mary enjoyed traveling with her friends all over the United States. Ms. Pappas worked at J.W. Wood in Stoughton for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Brockton and the Rose Forte Tenant Association in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially "her" Red Sox and Celtics.
She was the sister of the late George Pappas and Bessie Trotta and is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and godchildren who loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be held in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 457 Oak St., Brockton on Friday, March 4, at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, March 3 from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
