Mary Palmira Santos, born on January 11, 1945, transitioned peacefully from this world on March 17, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her surviving loved ones: her daughter, Lisa Coughlin, and two sons, Steven Soares and Daniel Soares.
Mary Palmira Santos, a beloved resident of Stoughton, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Francisco Tomas Santos and Palmira Mendonca (Mathews) Santos. Mary was born in Caveira, Flores, Azores, Portugal, and later moved to the United States with her family. They briefly lived in California before settling in Stoughton. Mary worked at Raytheon for 25 years before retiring.
She loved to laugh and enjoyed her life deeply with her children, especially her daily Dunkin’ Donuts runs for a coffee and donut. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Texas and North Carolina with her daughter, Lisa, and Son, Steven. Mary was strong in her faith and provided her children with the foundation of Christ. She was a long-time parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church of Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Mary will always be remembered through her three children: Lisa, Steven, and Daniel. She was a beloved grandmother to Declan Coughlin, Elijah Soares, Maximus Soares, Gavin Soares, and Asher Soares, who fondly called her Vovo. Mary also had two caring nieces, Olivia Garcia and Fatima Garcia-Fedorowicz, who will cherish her memory forever. These nieces were the daughters of Mary's best friend and sister, Maria Laureana (Santos) Garcia, now reunited in heaven.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Mary Palmira Santos will forever remain a beacon of love, laughter, and so giving to her children.
Per Mary’s wishes, all services will be private.
