Mary G. (Ahearn) Mooney, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died on Saturday, July 27 at her home under the care of Old Colony Hospice. She was the wife of 65 years of the late Robert J. Mooney. Born in Boston, she was raised in Savin Hill and was a graduate of Girls Latin High School. She was a resident of Stoughton for the past 45 years. Mrs. Mooney was a homemaker and also worked as a Bookkeeper for Stop & Shop Corporate Offices in Braintree for many years, retiring over 18 years ago. In her free time, she enjoyed playing scrabble, sewing, knitting, puzzles and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Mooney is survived by her children, Robert Mooney of Boston, Sheila Mooney of Attleboro, Anne Donovan and her husband William of Halifax, Janet Mooney of Stoughton and Susan Mooney of Sharon. She was the grandmother of Robert and Kylee Donovan, Katherine Fahey, Elizabeth and Caroline Dixon. She was the sister of Dorothy Farrell of Quincy an the late Margaret Cafarelli and Eleanor Ahearn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
