Mary M. (Remmes) McPherson, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Monday, September 30. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. McPherson. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and educated in Boston schools. She resided in Stoughton for the past 58 years. Mrs. McPherson was a homemaker. She was very active at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton then Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. McPherson was the mother of Joseph W. McPherson and his wife Madlyn and Richard B. McPherson and his wife Janice all of Maryland, Mary P. Tousignant and her husband Albert of Plymouth, Nancy M. Cincotta and her husband Paul and Janice E. Gallagher and her husband John all of Virginia, Steven F. McPherson and his wife Tricia of Wakefield, Barbara J. Purcell and her husband James of Stoughton and the late Ann Marie McPherson. She was the sister of Ann Merrigan of Quincy and the late Marjorie MacDonald, Claire Grimm, Robert, Frank, Paul, John, William, David, Stephen and Richard Remmes. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, October 4 at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Avalon/Brookewood School, 200 W. Diamond Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
