Mary I. (Brassell) Malcolm, 86, a longtime resident of Brockton, died peacefully at Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center in Milton on Sunday, January 12 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Barry S. Malcolm. Daughter of the late George E. and Norma M. (Schiappa) Brassell, she was born in Medford and raised in Hyde Park. Mary was a graduate of the Trade School for Girls, Class of 1951. She was a resident of Brockton for over 60 years. Mary was a Girl Scout Leader in Brockton and Den Mother, Pack 16 in Stoughton. She was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brockton and a member of the Mothers Club. Mary then was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls Mothers Club of Stoughton. She was an avid Bingo player in her free time.
Mary was the mother of Donna M. Malcolm of Bridgewater, Brian J. Malcolm and his wife Diane of Belmont, NH and the late Linda J. McPherson. She was the grandmother of Eric Jean, Angela Zatzos, Whitney Malcolm and Dylan Malcolm and great-grandmother of Bella and Andrew LaFlamme. She was the sister of Alfred A. "Red" Ciardi, Jr. and his wife Nancy of North Carolina, Joseph F. Ciardi and his wife Linda of Readville and the late Stephen A. Ciardi and his surviving wife Elaine of Hyde Park. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held from the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton on Friday, January 17 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
