Mary E. (Murphy) Ippolito, 68, a longtime resident of Easton, died peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Monday, October 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, after complications from cancer. She was the wife of John J. Ippolito. Daughter of the late Edward F. and Eleanor M. (Hart) Murphy, she was born and raised in Dorchester. Mary was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing Girls High School, Class of 1967, in South Boston. She resided in Easton for 44 years. Mary was an operator and clerk for New England Telephone in Boston for 15 years before being a homemaker for her children. She then was a Paraprofessional at Parkview Elementary School in Easton for 15 years before retiring 9 years ago. Mary was a longtime member of Point Independence Yacht Club in Onset. She was an avid Red Sox fan and lover of all animals.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Lori E. Ippolito of E. Taunton and Andrew J. Ippolito of Plymouth. She was the sister of John Borgstrom and his wife Judith of Claremont, NH, Virginia Hanlon of Rockland, Dorothy Hayes of Columbus, OH, Edward Murphy and his wife Elizabeth of Carver, Kathleen Katz and her husband Allan of Wrentham and Annemarie Eshner and her husband Sandee of Holbrook. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, October 31 at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
