Mary Ellen (Murphy) Murphy

Mary Ellen (Murphy) Murphy, 74, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Accent Care Inpatient Hospice Center in Milton on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. She was the wife of the late Edmund J. Murphy. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Eugene and Mary (Gillis) Murphy. She was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mary Ellen was an administrative clerk for New England Telephone for 17 years before working at Murphy & Fahy Construction in Stoughton for 20 years until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church Prayer Shawl Group.

Mary is survived by her stepchildren, Edmund J. “Ned” Murphy and his wife Leslie of Milton, John M. Murphy and his Traci of Pembroke, Jay M. Murphy of Hilton Head, SC, Mark J. Murphy and his wife Kelli of Littleton, CO and Kara A. Murphy of Canton. She was the sister of Eugene Murphy, Jr. and his late wife Lois of Tewksbury, Margaret Innis and her husband Robert of Billerica and the late Clair Pezzini and her husband John. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, August 20 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
