Mary Margaret Ball, age 70, of Kilgore, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Mary was born on Monday, March 5, 1951 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Mary began her career in nursing with her family in Massachusetts, and brought them both with her when she moved to East Texas. She worked tirelessly, continued her education, and nurtured a loving and kind family that she adored. Mary graduated from Kilgore College as a registered nurse, and briefly taught on the Longview campus. She was given many awards as an LVN and RN at a number of hospitals. Mary loved people, but helping them was her passion. She had a soft and tender spot in her heart for children, and animals of all kinds. She would go out of her way to include or help any child. Mary was the best 'Nana' to her grandkids, their siblings, and friends. Everyone who came in contact with Mary left feeling happier than before, her ability to illuminate a room was inspiring. Mary had many amazing attributes, but her sense of humor was like no other, and her kindness radiated through her unfailing, and nonjudgmental love. Mary was a very spiritual person, and was of a deep faith. Our Mom taught us to take risks on the universe's behalf; that we are loved by God first, and will continue on, whole, made perfect by His hand. How important intelligence and a good work ethic are in life, and to care for ourselves; mind, body, and soul. She will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was a nature lover and enjoyed walks with her sisters in her younger years. They would go walk in Borderland Park in Sharon, Massachusetts on Sunday morning and enjoy the scenery, talk and have many, many laughs together. She is the third out of ten children and the first born daughter born to her parents, Jack and Margaret Doherty, who preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Matthew Ball, Adrianne Ball and Rebecca Ball; grandchildren, Mary Lillian Ball, Maya Thurmond, Dominic Thurmond, Ava Thurmond, William Ball, Justice Denison, Kaylee Denison, Skyler Haler, and Dakota Haler; great–granddaughter, AviAnna Anderson; and siblings, John (Jack) Doherty, James Doherty, Kathleen Doherty, Michael Doherty, Margaret Doherty and Joseph Doherty. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John Ball; son, Andrew Ball; three siblings, Patrick, Teresa and Timothy Doherty.
A time of visitation and celebration of life for Mary will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.tylermemorial.com for the Ball family.
