Mary (Healy) Cavanaugh, 87, died at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham on Monday, October 23. She was the wife of the late William P. Cavanaugh. Born and educated in Cambridge, she was a resident of Stoughton for 50 years before moving to Wareham 8 months ago. Mrs. Cavanaugh was a clerk at Hill's Department Store in Canton for over 15 years before retiring 15 years ago. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. In her free time she enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, watching sports and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Cavanaugh is survived by her children, Maureen Dunfey of Plainville, Jeanne Gillpatrick of E. Wareham, Michael Cavanaugh of Norton and Gerard Cavanaugh of Stoughton, as well as her brother, Francis Healy of Stoneham. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Healy, Eleanor Ahern, Margaret Healy and Barbara Healy. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 26 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Mary's name may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
