Mary L. (Fortin) Barksdale

Mary L. (Fortin) Barksdale, 81, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 20th, 2024. Mary was the wife of Frederick W. Barksdale and passed away on their 61st wedding anniversary. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth M. (Mannix) Fortin and sister of Catherine Poudrier of West Bridgewater. Mary was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1961. She resided in Stoughton for the past 48 years. She was a cake decorator at various local bakeries, including Montilio’s in Brockton for many years. She then worked in the kitchen at O’Donnell Middle School in Stoughton for over 5 years before her retirement. She enjoyed baking and cake decorating but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Timothy J. Barksdale of Bridgewater, Bonnie A. Perrault and her husband David of East Bridgewater, and Robert F. Barksdale and his wife Constance of Abington. She was the grandmother of Brian Barksdale, Christine Hickey and her husband Patrick, Colleen Perrault, and Chelsea Perrault. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 4-7 PM at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St (Rte. 27) Stoughton. Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, Friday October 25 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
