Mary C. "Mamie" Alves, 98, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Mooresville, NC on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. She was the widow of John Viera Alves of Stoughton.
Born in Canton, she was educated and lived her entire life in Stoughton except for the final three years when she resided with her daughter in North Carolina.
Mrs. Alves worked her entire life to include assembly work at RCA. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was employed as a line supervisor at Analog Devices in Norwood. She was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton. She was an avid cardplayer, enjoyed travelling, and was willing to try anything once.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane M. McDaniels of Mooresville, NC.; Linda C. Demers of Sandwich, MA and Janet J. Miller of Raleigh, NC; and a son John V. Alves Jr. of Marion, MA. She is also survived by two sisters, Emily Martins of Foxborough, MA and Nancy Abreu and a brother, Joseph Abreu of South Easton, MA as well as eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 21 from 10-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
