Marjorie A. Jones

Marjorie A. Jones, a lifelong resident of Waltham, died at Hearthstone in Brockton on Friday, February 22. She was the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Marion (Blakeney) Jones. Born in Newton, she was raised in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School and Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, NH. She earned her Master's Degree from Boston University.

Marjorie was a school teacher for 35 years, teaching dependents of the U.S. Air Force in England, Spain and Germany before teaching in Newton Public Schools for many years. She retired 20 years ago.

Marjorie was known for her skiing and was an alternate for the U.S. Olympic Ski Team. She was a lifetime member at Wildcat Mountain in New Hampshire and taught skiing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She was a longtime member of the Prospector Ski Club in Waltham and the Appalachian Mountain Club. She enjoyed skiing throughout Europe as well. She also loved fly fishing. She was a member of the Mass. Teacher's Association.

Marjorie was the sister of Kathryn E. "Kitty" Cullen of Stoughton and the late Marian Cole, Thomas Jones and Eleanor Jones. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a great-great niece.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, February 27 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-7 PM. Interment will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, Natick.
