Marie J. (Mara) Hargreaves, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton after a long period of failing health. She was the wife of 62 years of Gordon H. Hargreaves. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a 1946 graduate of Stoughton High School. She worked for the Town of Stoughton as the Cafeteria Manager at the South School for many years, retiring in 1995. Mrs. Hargreaves was an active parishioner of the Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. In her free time, her life revolved around her family. She loved going to lunch with her sisters, vacationing on Nantucket with her husband and attending every family gathering involving her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Linda M. Cannon and her husband William of Wareham, Thomas Hargreaves and his wife Susan and Pamela J. Bettle and her husband Brian all of Stoughton. She was the sister of Shirley Stadalnick of Norwood, Herberta Lyons of Stoughton and the late D. Joseph Mara and James J. Mara. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Marie's Memory may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 199 Water Street, 23rd Floor, New York, NY 10038.
