Marie T. (Clancy) Doherty

Marie T. (Clancy) Doherty, 87, died peacefully at Sentera Hospice House in Virginia Beach, VA on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Doherty. Daughter of the late William and Mary Ellen Clancy, she was born and raised in Boston. She was a graduate of Mission High School and the New England Conservatory. Marie was a resident of Stoughton for over 35 years before living inVirginia Beach in recent years. She was a homemaker at home with her family and also was an operator with the phone company for 14 years. She enjoyed music, the opera and symphony and singing, including in the Mission Church Choir. She enjoyed watching movies, especially old movies. She loved her home and spending time with her family.

Marie is survived by her children, Robert W. "Duffy" Doherty and his wife Susan of San Diego, CA, Mariellen Dowd and her husband John of Virginia Beach, VA, Terence E. Doherty and his wife Eugenia of Melrose and Eileen L. MacPhee and her husband John of Cumberland, RI. She was the grandmother of Eileen Souza, Robert P. Doherty, Kelsey Lai, Alaina Coletti, Nina Galvez, Jessica Miarecki and Michael MacPhee and the great-grandmother of Robert Lai, Vivian Galvez, Rowan Doherty, Luke and Grace Miarecki and Nolan and Myles MacPhee. She was the sister of John Clancy of Newburyport and the late William, Paul and Thomas Clancy.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, January 2 from 9-11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Canton Corner Cemetery, Canton. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Colon Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005.
