Marie A. (Pagliuca) Collins

Marie Anna Angelina Amerosa, “Angel of the Roses” (Pagliuca) Collins, 83 years of age and the matriarch of her family passed peacefully in her home of over 50 years in Stoughton on Monday, April 3, 2023. Born in Boston, she was the youngest daughter of Emelio Pagliuca of Montefalcione and Maria Capone of Montemiletto Italy, in the province of Avellino, Campania. Marie was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. She later attended Massasoit Community College as a student and became actively involved in the Alumni association and was named President of the Alumni Association. She was elected to the Board of Trustees and then served as Chair of the Board. Marie acted as a guest lecturer and proud commencement speaker. Marie was a driving force and founder of the College’s nursing program. She delayed her retirement so she could present her great niece with a nursing degree from the program she helped to institute. Marie was a staunch advocate of  “Education for Life”. Marie’s love, support, and advocacy of education led to an invitation from the White House where she was honored to speak on the importance of community college. Marie was a member of St. James Parish in Stoughton where she volunteered as a CCD Teacher.  She was a trailblazer for women’s rights in the workforce and always demanded a seat at the table. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with “friends who are family and family who are friends”, shopping, reading, traveling, and going to the beach. She was always ready for the next adventure.

Marie was the proud mother of George A. Collins of Quincy, Laura A. Collins and her husband David Cook of East Bridgewater and the late Sheryl M. Collins. She was the proud grandmother “Nonnie" of Ashleigh Laura Marie Cornelissen and her fiancé Matthew Wedge and Katelyn Jane Cornelissen and her partner Jordan White. She was predeceased by her siblings Anthony and Frank Pagliuca and Millie Wentworth. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who she loved dearly.
