Maria A. (Alves) Valadão, 76, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Thursday, October 17, 2019. She was the wife of the late Jose R. Valadão. Daughter of the late Francisco J. and Adelina S. (Silveira) Alves, she was born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal. Maria was a resident of Stoughton for 52 years. Maria worked at Morse Shoe in Canton for 36 years before retiring at age 65. She was a member and cook at Sociedade Filarmonica São João in Stoughton. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her malassadas but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Maria was the mother of Joseph A. Valadão and his fiancé Elisabeth Casey of Stoughton and the late Gil A. Valadão and the grandmother of Liam R. Swanson-Valadão, Joseph A. Valadão-Casey, Jr. and Elysia Casey. She was the sister of the late Jose Alves and Jacinto Alves and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, October 23 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
