Maria Amelia (Andrade) Soares, 86, died Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of declining health. Born, the oldest of 5 children, to Ermalinda (Teixeira) and Antonio P. Andrade in the Caveira section of Santa Cruz, on the island of Flores, Portugal, she was raised and educated in Flores. She came to the United States in 1974 and settled in Stoughton, and it was there that she lived and raised her family. She worked for Qual Craft in Stoughton and also worked as an office cleaner for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a hard working single mother whose good natured way and welcoming smile brightened the day for many. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, watching TV, listening to Portuguese music and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Soares was the beloved mother of Livia DeLourdes Soares of Stoughton and the late Antonio Gabriel Soares. She was the grandmother of Casey S. Forman and Antonio Damien Soares. She was the sister of Livia Ramos of Stoughton and is predeceased by 3 brothers and sisters.
