Maria Dantas (Socorro) Rosa, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 25, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Antonio Rosa. Daughter of the late Alberto and Ana (Dantas) Socorro, she was born and raised in Cape Verde before moving to Dorchester in 1966. She resided in Stoughton for over 30 years. Known as Mama' to her family and friends, Maria was a leather worker at Noymer Leather in South Boston for several years. In her free time, she enjoyed walking and soap operas but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Maria was the mother of Ernestina Anahory and Alberto Rosa both of Stoughton, Alfredo J. Rosa of Avon and the late Miguel D. Rosa. She was the sister of Carlos Socorro of Dorchester and Albertino Socorro of Easton. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and preceded in death by 1 grandson.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, October 30, 2020, from 4-7 PM. Due to the coronavirus pandemic a Funeral Mass will be private. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Maria's memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
