Maria Adelaide "Lálá" (Silva) Macedo, 82, a resident of Stoughton, died at Seasons Hospice in Milton on Friday, September 16, 2016. She was the wife of Olavo Bilac Martins Macedo, Sr. for 62 years. Daughter of the late Lucas Faria Silva and Maria José Santos Silva, she was born and raised in Brava, Cape Verde before moving to Randolph in 1976 with her family, where she resided until moving to Stoughton 15 years ago. Mrs. Macedo was a homemaker with many talents. She was a great cook, loved to bake and entertain friends and family. The quiet rock of the family, she was totally devoted to her husband and children.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Macedo is survived by her children, Quilda M. Macedo of Milton, Claudette M. Martins and her husband José Alberto of Portugal, Olavo B. Macedo, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Canton, Lucas S. Macedo and his wife Nawal of North Grafton and Kathleen C. Haddad and her husband Robert of Attleboro. She was the grandmother of Ricardo Martins, Christopher Macedo and his wife Erica, Justin Pohl and his wife Verena, David Martins, Katelyn Haddad, Nicole Macedo, Ryan Macedo and Tyler Haddad and the great-grandmother of Marlon, Jonathon and Lennon. She was the sister of Antonio Silva and his wife Elza of Marshfield, Celiza Leitão of Stoughton, John Silva and his wife Marilyn of Rockland, Fernanda Oliveira and her husband John Paul of Canton, Irma Barbeau and her husband William of Blacksburg, VA and Izione Santos Silva and her husband Robert of Rockville, MD and Manuela Fatima Silva and her husband Thomas of Rockville, MD. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton on Tuesday, September 20 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
