Maria R. "Sensan" Lopes, 58, died on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at her home in Stoughton after a long illness. Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, she was raised and educated in Cape Verde. Ms. Lopes came to the United States in 1987 and settled in Dorchester, where she lived until moving to Stoughton in 2011. She worked as a Room Attendant at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston for over 25 years, retiring due to her illness. She was a member of Local 26 Hotel and Food Services Union in Boston. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping and all types of gardening.
Sensan was the mother of Carlos R. Araujo, Carlos A. DeBarros and Carla V. DeBarros all of Stoughton. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 25 brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 6-8 PM.
