Maria Texeira Dias, 68, died unexpectedly August 26, at the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, RI. She was the wife of Antonio F. Dias. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, she was raised in Flores and came to the United States in 1969. She was a resident of New Bedford since 2001, previously living in Stoughton for many years. Mrs. Dias worked as a Tester for Analog Devices in Norwood for many years. She retired several years ago. After her retirement, she worked as a school bus driver in Stoughton for several years. She was a former member of the choir at Immaculate Conception Church. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Alzira Murphy and her husband Richard of Avon, Jose F. Dias of New Bedford and the late Rosemarie Dias. She was the grandmother of James Murphy and his wife Lindsey, Stephen Murphy, Jacqueline Murphy, Anna Fegan and Jovan Dias. She was the sister of Joao Texeira of Taunton, Julia Resendes, Jose Texeira, Alzira Garcia and Jesuino Texeira all of Stoughton, Rosaria Garcia of FL, Aurora Serpa of CA and Leonor Santo Cristo and Aida Nunes both of Portugal. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday, August 31 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
