Maria Abreu (Ladeira) Crowther, 56, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at BayPointe Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was the wife of the late Todd G. Crowther. She was born in Stoughton, the daughter of Maria D. (DeAndrade) Ladeira of Stoughton and the late Antonio L. Ladeira. Maria was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1986. She graduated from Massasoit Community College in Brockton with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and a certificate in Early Childhood Care. She worked as a preschool teacher for many years. She enjoyed watching television and Sunday prayer services. She also loved music and dancing, but most of all spending time with her family. Her greatest joy was being a mom to her son, Sean.
In addition to her mother, Maria is survived by her son, Sean B. Crowther of Brockton and her sisters, Teresa A. Kinniery and her husband Christopher and Rose L. Jardim and her husband Michael all of Stoughton. She was the aunt and godmother of Michael Jardim and aunt of Jake Jardim, Patrick, Katie, and Jack Walsh. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 21 from 9-10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Maria‘s memory may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, 663 Thirteenth Street, Suite 100, Oakland, CA 94612 (https://www.myotonic.org).
