Maria T. (Vieira) Alves

Maria Teresa (Vieira) Alves, 71, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the AccentCare Hospice in Milton, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of 52 years of Jose C. Alves. Born and raised in Lajes on the island of Flores in the Azores of Portugal, Maria was a longtime resident of Stoughton. She worked at the Paul Dever School in Taunton for many years, retiring over 12 years ago. She enjoyed cooking and was skilled at canning fruit and vegetables and making fresh apple juice. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Candida M. Alves of Maine, Daniel Alves of CA and Elizabeth Alves of Brockton. She was the sister of Maria Figueiredo of CA and Jose Vieira of Brockton. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 10-11AM, with Funeral Prayers to follow at 11AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
