Margaret V. (MacDonald) Visser, 78, died Tuesday, March 11 at her home after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edwin "Ted" Visser. Born in Judique, Cape Breton, Canada, she was raised and educated there. She was also a graduate of Normal College. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Visser worked as a teacher in Cape Breton. She was a homemaker and a resident of Stoughton for over 48 years. She also owned Ms. Cleaning Service. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, listening to Scottish Fiddle Music and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Thomas J. Visser and Elizabeth J. "Betsy" Merriam both of Bridgewater, Margaret M. "Margie" Robichaud of Nova Scotia, Catherine E. Manning of Sandwich, Allan I. Visser of Stoughton and Joseph H. Visser (Stoughton FD) of Medfield. She was the sister of Albert J. MacDonald, Donald R. MacDonald, William MacDonald, Joseph MacDonald and Harold MacDonald all of Canada, Katie Ellen Nedder of CT and the late Catherine L. Bannister and A.D. MacDonald. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 15 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Stoughton Firefighters House Fund, c/o Joe Visser, 30 Freeman St., Stoughton, 02072. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
