Margaret M. "Peggy" (Egan) King, 94, of Canton and Marshfield, died Thursday February 21st. At Atria Assisted Living at Marina Bay in Quincy. She was the loving wife of the late Hon. Paul H. King who died in 1996. Born in Washington, DC on July 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Hickey) Egan.
When she was a small child her family moved from Washington to Boston. For most of her life her family spent time at their summer home in Marshfield. She graduated from Marymount College in New York and furthered her education at Boston College Law School. She and her husband were married in 1951, the same year she graduated from Law School. Mrs. King enjoyed a very active life. She cherished her quiet time reading at her family home in Marshfield. For many years she swam with the Mermaids, a swimming group located at the Canton Hospital School. She was passionate about her tennis playing, being described as an avid and competitive player. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 6 of 7 her children, Paula Deegan and her husband Paul of Raynham, Lisa King of Marshfield, Linda McCloud and her husband Stephen of Canton John of Marshfield, Edward of Canton and Barbara Savage and her husband Ted of Walpole. She was the mother of the late Laura King who died in 2010. She is the grandmother of 10 grandchildren including David & Kara Allen, Kevin & Kaitlyn Hewitt, Jennifer King, Chris, Pat & Jimmy McCloud and Paul & Jamie Savage and 2 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert Egan who died in 2016.
Her family has invited relatives and friends to visit with them at the Farley Funeral Home 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday February 25 from 9-11AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00. Burial will follow at Old Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan.
