Margaret L. "Peggy" (O'Toole) Guiney

Margaret L. "Peggy" (O'Toole) Guiney, 76, resident of Stoughton for over 50 years, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Paul K. Guiney. Born and raised in Dorchester, she graduated at the top of her class from St. Gregory's High School and Boston Clerical School. While raising a family of 5, she went back to school at Bridgewater State College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was a dedicated and loving mother who later worked as a teacher for nearly 20 years, the majority of her career was spent at the Beethoven School in West Roxbury, before retiring several years ago. She was the longtime recording secretary of the Stoughton Redevelopment Authority and received a citation from both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate upon her retirement. She was also active with the Planning Board and was a longtime poll worker in Stoughton.

Mrs. Guiney was the mother of Paul K. Guiney, Jr. and his wife Deborah of CT, William F. Guiney of Bradford, Jeanne M. Clemente and her husband Michael of NY, Christine A. Guiney of Dedham and the late Joseph P. Guiney. She was the sister of Miriam Dessureau of MD, Claire Cashman of CT, Carol Stark of Chelmsford, Ernest O'Toole of CO, Joseph O'Toole of Eastham, Jeanne Glynn of Falmouth and the late Norman O'Toole. She was the grandmother of Garrett Guiney, Logann Guiney, Owen Guiney and Meggie Clemente and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday, November 27, from 2-5 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
