Margaret F. (Tarchara) Gomes, 93, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John Gomes. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of St. Mary's School in Stoughton and St. John's School in Canton. Mrs. Gomes was a homemaker. She was a member of the Portuguese National Club and VFW Ladies Auxiliary both in Stoughton. She enjoyed painting and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Gomes is survived by her children, Evelyn E. McStowe and her husband Paul, Edward R. Gomes and John M. Gomes all of Stoughton. She was the sister of Robert Tarchara of Stoughton and the late Evelyn DePaul. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, August 2 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
