Margaret Diane (McEachron) Baxter, 73, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Canton on Thursday, June 30, 2016 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the wife of Michael W. Baxter for 50 years. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Framingham State University and her Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. Diane was a school teacher at the West Elementary School in Stoughton for 27 years before retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Brockton Country Club, a Stoughton Town Meeting Representative and a member of the Stoughton Conservation Commission. She enjoyed teaching, golfing and spending time in South Carolina, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Diane is survived by her children, Jennifer B. Morrissey and her partner Howard Gorman of Canton and Timothy J. Baxter and his wife Laura of Milton, as well as her grandchildren, Julia D. Morrissey and Gabriella G. Baxter. She was the sister of the late Joseph McEachron, Elizabeth Keefe and Jean Sweeney and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, July 8 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Diane's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
