Manuel S. Vieira, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was the husband of Ricardina (Silva) Vieira. Born and raised in Brava, Cape Verde, he came to the United States at age 17 and settled in Stoughton over 40 years ago. Mr. Vieira worked as an oiler on a ship for Standard Oil for 35 years before retiring at age 55. In his free time, he loved baseball.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Vieira is survived by his sons, Cezar E. "Gino" Vieira of Stoughton and Rodney J. Vieira of Washington, as well as his grandson, Michael Finni. He was the brother of Elisa Leitao of Stoughton and Anna Tavares of Newton and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 14 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
