Manuel P. Mendonca, 73, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Saturday, May 18. He was the husband of 49 years of Ilda M. (Moniz) Mendonca. Son of the late Manuel and Maria (Pacheco) Mendonca, he was born and raised in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal before moving to Stoughton in 1966. Mr. Mendonca was a supervisor at Draper Brothers in Canton for many years before retiring in 2001. He was also a real estate broker and volunteered at the IRS. He enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mendonca is survived by his siblings, Jose P. Mendonca, Adelino P. Mendonca, Maria Jose Tavares and Maria Jesus Furtado all of Canada. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 22 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
