Manuel DeAndrade, 98, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of 74 years to Maria C. (Vieira) DeAndrade of Stoughton. Born, raised and educated in Madeira, Portugal, he came to the United States in 1960 and settled in Stoughton. He was a longtime resident of Stoughton who also lived in Florida for several years. He was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army. Mr. DeAndrade worked as a Laborer at Plymouth Rubber Company in Canton for several years, retiring at age 62. He was a member of the Portuguese National Club in Stoughton and the Rubber Workers Union. Mr. DeAndrade was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and in his free time, he enjoyed making wine, playing cards and gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Manuel DeAndrade of FL, Maria D. Ladeira and Constance D. Araujo both of Stoughton, John "Goose" DeAndrade of E. Bridgewater and Tommy DeAndrade of Taunton. He was the brother of Domingos DeAndrade of Stoughton, Salvina Maceda of Venezuela and the late Conceicao Conduto, Isabel Goutarde, Maria Costa and Antonio DeAndrade and Augostino DeAndrade. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, February 4 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stougton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, 02072. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
