Manuel C. DaSilva, 79, died Saturday, July 1, at the Blue Hill Alzheimer Care Center in Stoughton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 52 years of Maria F. (Fernandes) DaSilva. Born in Madeira, Portugal, he had lived in Stoughton for over 50 years. He worked at Plymouth Rubber in Canton for 28 years, previously working at Panther Rubber for 3 years. He retired in 1986. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by his children; Faith M. Daya of Franklin, Manuel C. DaSilva, Jr. of Rockland and Laurinda Ryan of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Teresa Sebastiao, Balbina DaSilva and Isabel Santos all of Portugal and the late Judith Gonsalves. He also leaves his grandchildren: Jena and Andrew Daya, Amy and Bethany DaSilva and Tyler, Matthew and Jason Ryan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Thursday at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday 5-8 PM. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton
