Madeline (Flynn) McDermott

Madeline (Flynn) McDermott, 65, a resident of Weymouth, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was the wife of Paul F. McDermott for 30 years. Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (White) Flynn, she was born in Quincy and raised in the Hough’s Neck section of Quincy. Madeline was a graduate of Quincy High School and the Sinnott School in Weymouth. She resided in Avon for 11 years before moving to Weymouth 8 years ago. She was a rehabilitation counselor for the Gavin House in South Boston for 6 years before retiring last year.

Madeline was a homemaker who loved decorating her family home seasonally and especially loved decorating for the holidays. She enjoyed playing Bingo and traveling to the White Mountains in New Hampshire but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Madeline is survived by her sons, John P. Laukkanen of Brockton, Jacob M. Laukkanen of Charlemont and Brian P. McDermott of Brockton. She was the sister of Mary Wall of Bradenton, FL, Walter Wall of San Jose, CA, Jeanine Heath of Quincy and the late Alice MacDonald and John Wall. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, January 9th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Madeline‘s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/
