Louis R. "Bubba" Sousa, 77, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died Monday, January 28 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Mariann F. (Portugal) Sousa. Born in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. He also attended Bunker Hill Community College and Stonehill College and was a graduate of Vaughn Barber School in Boston. Mr. Sousa was a Veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Donner LSD 20. He owned and worked at Louie's Barber Shop in Stoughton for many years. He also owned Louie's Take Out in Stoughton for many years. Mr. Sousa also worked as the Fish Manager at Shaw's Supermarket in both Stoughton and Brockton for 10 years. He was a member and former past Vice President of the Massachusetts State Barbers Association and was an instructor at Broms Barber School in Worcester. Mr. Sousa was a "Board Member" at Honey Dew Donuts in Stoughton and also a member of ROMEO, Retired Old Men Eating Out. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Debra J. Miller and her husband Andrew of Stoughton and Lisa J. Arthur and her husband James of Lakeville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brendan Ellis and his girlfriend Lauren Vinitsky, Sean Ellis and his wife Dawn, Ashley Miller, Jake Arthur and Brittany Arthur. He was the great grandfather of Kayla Howland.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, January 31 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Services will be private. Interment will be held at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Due to floral restrictions at the National Cemetery, Louie's family has asked that memorial donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905 or BWH/Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
