Loretta G. (Kennedy) Dexter, 98, died on November 10, 2018, her 98th birthday, at the West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Dexter. Born in Stoughton, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She was also a graduate of Bridgewater State College. Mrs. Dexter was a longtime resident of Stoughton and also spent several years in South Yarmouth. She worked as a Teacher at the Jones Elementary School in Stoughton for over 30 years, retiring many years ago. A devoted and beloved teacher, she loved teaching third and fourth grade. She also read for Books on Tape for the Blind. Loretta was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Dexter was the mother of Robert E. Dexter, Jr. and his wife Patricia G. of Stoughton. She was the sister of the late Barbara McArdle and Sandra Kennedy. She was the grandmother of Col. Christopher E. Dexter, US Army, Neil T. Dexter and Kathleen "Kate" Sjursen and is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton, 02072.
