Leroy G. Pottinger

Leroy George Pottinger, 62, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the Emerald Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Norwood. He was the husband of Alba (Daley). Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he was raised in Tela, Honduras. He came to the US in 1969. Mr. Pottinger was a resident of Sharon for 20 years, previously living in Dorchester. Mr. Pottinger was a graduate of Fitchburg State College for both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He was a longtime teacher of Automotive Tech at Madison Park Vocational High School in Roxbury, retiring in 2002. Mr. Pottinger was also very involved with area soccer and soccer clubs. He was a longtime coach for Sharon Youth Soccer and the former President of the Latin American Soccer Club. He was the Owner and Coach of Boston Honduran Soccer Club in Boston. He was also a referee. Mr. Pottinger was the first Nationally Certified Bilingual Teacher.

IN addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Shirley Stephanie Pottinger, Alba Ruby Pottinger, Daryel Leroy Pottinger, Santos Ochoa and Jhonathan Pottinger all of Sharon, Leroy Carlos Pottinger of Athol and Gracie Toledo of Mission Hill. He was the brother of Shirley Daley of Shirley, Joan Sensley of FL, Stephanie Daley of NY, Jessica Brown of NJ, Penelope DaCosta of WI, Pamela Kelly of GA, Durango DaCosta of FL, Judalyn Blake of NC, Christopher Dayley of FL and the late Sonia DaCosta. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, May 30 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Please see family designed page at http://leroypottinger.googlepages.com/
