Leonard F. Souza

Leonard F. Souza, 82, a longtime resident of Norwood, died at his daughter's home in Stoughton on Thursday, March 4 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Phyllis E. (Glynn) Souza. Born in Brockton, he was raised in Rockland and graduated from Rockland High School. He was a resident of Norwood for over 20 years. Mr. Souza was a Private in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a Veteran of World War II. He was a manager at Varco Pruden and Priggen Steel both in Holbrook for over 25 years before retiring in 1983. He also was a driver for Y.C.N. in Norwood for 15 years. Mr. Souza was a boxer as a youth. A talented painter, he enjoyed music and art, as well as fishing and sports.
Mr. Souza is survived by his children, Linda M. Santoli and her husband Frank, Patricia A. McEnany and her husband Phil and Kerry J. Niethold and her husband Norman all of Stoughton and Nidia B. Cronin and her husband John of Brockton. He was the grandfather of Jennifer and Michael Schubert, Robin, Dean and Lauren Santoli, John Bonney, Daniel and Cristina Cronin and the late Lisa Bonney. He was the great-grandfather of Jordan, David, Liam and Caelyn. He was the brother of Joseph Souza of Bourne and the late Phyllis McClay and Kenneth Souza.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday, March 8 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Leonard's name may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3 Edgewater Dr., Norwood, MA 02062.
