Lauren W. "Larry" Young, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 3. He was the husband of 64 years of Virginia (Wenstrom) Young. Born in Boston, he was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Boston Latin School. He earned his undergraduate and Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Mr. Young was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of World War II. He was a mechanical engineer for Westinghouse in Hyde Park for 42 years before retiring at age 62. He was a longtime member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Stoughton, where he was a Senior Warden, a member of the Vestry and Choir and taught Sunday School. He enjoyed watching sports and playing golf. He also spent many wonderful summers with friends and family on Lake Ainslie, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Young is survived by his children, Neil L. Young of Norton, Gail A. Price of Phoenix, AZ, Judith A. Ceven of Brockton, Bruce A. Young of Stoughton, Diane R. Young of Maine, Mark D. Young of Bridgewater and Dawn L. Tsiofas of Toronto, Canada. He was the brother of Jacqueline Roche of Plymouth. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton, MA 02072, on Saturday, November 16 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. Interment will be private.
