Laura Christine Olson, 63, a resident of New Bedford, died peacefully at home on Friday, June 9, 2018 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of Mark A. Zajac. Daughter of the late Carl H. and Catherine M. (McCool) Olson, she was born in Boston and raised in Stoughton. Laura was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1972 and also earned her Licensed Practical Nurse's license. She resided in New Bedford for the past 14 years. Laura was a licensed practical nurse for over 30 years before retiring in 2014. She was an affiliate member of the First Congregational Church of Stoughton. She enjoyed reading, attending concerts and game nights with her family.
In addition to her husband, Laura is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Christine Dyke and her longtime companion, Isander Laureano of New Bedford. She was the sister of Karen M. Olson of Easton, Paula M. Burbine of Port Orange, FL, Marcia A. Olson, Paul C. Olson and Peter S. Olson all of Stoughton, Lisa M. MacLean of Wethersfield, CT, David B. Olson of Middleboro, Patricia J. Olson of West Bridgewater and Eric J. Olson of Fishers, IN. She was the stepmother of Cara Zajac of New Orleans, LA and Michael Zajac of New Bedford. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton on Friday, June 15 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
