Laura V. (Griffin) Mace, 83, OFD, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly on March 13, 2019. She was the beloved wife of over 63 years of the late Richard C. "Dick" Mace, who died on February 8, 2019. Daughter of the late James and Delia (Lawless) Griffin, she was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. She was a graduate of St. Peter's Grammar School in Dorchester and Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston. Mrs. Mace worked for Shawmut Bank in Boston then Morse Shoe in Canton for over 10 years, retiring many years ago. Besides spending time with her beloved family, she loved to garden, draw and paint. She loved family dinners, backyard cookouts and Cape Cod vacations. Laura and Dick loved traveling with their brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children; Karen M. Himmelberger and her husband Allen of Medway, Richard E. Mace, BPD, and his wife Nancy of Stoughton, Laurie A. Hoffman and her husband Mark of Stoughton, Thomas J. Mace and his wife Martha of Mashpee, William J. Mace and his wife Janice of Stoughton and Madeline A. Langley and her husband Edward of Mashpee. Laura was the sister of Louise McEvoy and her husband the late Joseph of Pembroke, James Griffin and his wife Jean of Barnstable and the late Mary Kelly and her husband Thomas Kelly of Brewster and the late Margaret Griffin. She was the sister-in-law of Edward Mace and his wife Nancy of Abington and the late William Mace and Donald Mace and his wife Dolly of Randolph. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton on Wednesday, March 20 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
