Kevin J. Hegarty

Kevin J. Hegarty, 81, a longtime resident of North Easton, died peacefully at Blue Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton on Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was the husband of Lucille K. "Dolly" (Costa) Hegarty for 56 years. Son of the late James and Winifred (Keegan) Hegarty, he was born in Boston, raised in Dorchester and educated in Boston schools. Kevin was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He resided in North Easton since 1973. Kevin was a heavy equipment engineer with the International Union of Engineers, Local 4 in Boston for over 20 years before retiring at age 65. He enjoyed working in his yard but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Kevin was the father of Kevin V. Hegarty of Newport, RI, Dyana P. Melo and her husband Frank of Easton and the late Nicole Hegarty Woodward. He was the grandfather of Logan Woodward, Dylan Woodward, Isabella Melo, Gianna Melo and Jenelle Melo. He was the brother of the Joan O'Hagan and Patricia Hegarty both of San Francisco, CA, James Hegarty of Sandwich and the late Maureen Eckett.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 5 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Easton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton.
