Kevin G. Coyne

Kevin G. Coyne, 78, a longtime resident of Stoughton, formerly of West Roxbury, died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Old Colony Hospice House in Braintree with his loving daughter Kerry by his side. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Ellen P. (Larkin) Coyne. Born in Boston, he was raised in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. He faithfully served in the United States Army for 6 years, being honorably discharged in 1969. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 45 years. Mr. Coyne worked for the MBTA as the Assistant Superintendent of the Blue Line for over 25 years, retiring several years ago. He then worked for the MDC as the facilities manager for several ice rinks for many years, retiring again in 2002. Kevin was a member of the Carman's Union Local 589. He was an animal lover and avid sports fan who enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with family and friends by the pool in the summertime.

Kevin will be remembered as one of the few people in the world that could make one feel comfortable from the second they met. He was one who put people at ease with his sharp wit, no-nonsense attitude and his gentle smile. He was a man who cared about and helped out friends, as well as strangers. His calm demeanor and thoughtful gestures made the world an easier place to be. He will be missed by all he knew.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Kerry Lama of Franklin and Kevin G. Coyne II and his wife Cynthia of Stoughton. He was the adoring grandfather of Colin Lama and Riley Coyne, who were his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by his faithful friend and dog, Kobe. Kevin was the son of the late William and Catherine Coyne and was the brother of William Coyne and Kathleen Coyne both of W. Roxbury and the late Richard Coyne. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, from 4-7 PM, followed by Funeral Prayers at 7 PM. Following cremation, interment will take place with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
