Kenneth W. Hardiman

Kenneth W. Hardiman, 84, a Local 25 Retiree, of Stoughton, formerly of Charlestown, died Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. "Betty" Hardiman. Born, raised and educated in Charlestown, he was the son of the late John W. "Bill" Hardiman. He was a Veteran of the US Army and a Korean War Veteran where he was a member of the 505th Trucking Company. Upon returning to the States, he was stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center and the 7031st where he drove a staff car for Lt. Col. A. V. Bradley, Chaplain, attending funerals of service men killed in action.

A graduate of Massachusetts Trades Shop School, he was an oil burner serviceman and cross country truck driver. He successfully completed the NRA's shotgun course, qualifying as an expert. He was a special police officer for the Town of Stoughton, member and past financial secretary of the Stoughton Fish and Game and very active with Stoughton Youth Hockey as a coach and referee. Ken's most memorable hockey experience was coaching the Bantam A, TriCounty League Championship in the 1980-81 season. He enjoyed trap and pistol shooting, playing for the Red Raiders of the Canton Men's Hockey League and in various men's hockey leagues. He also enjoyed participating in hockey tournaments in Hamilton, Ontario and West Point and loved golfing at Easton Country Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, John and his wife Holly and Kenneth D. Hardiman of Stoughton. He was the brother of the late William Hardiman, Patricia "Patsy" Maher, Gloria Weichel and Lorraine Dodi. He is also survived by his grandson Nathan J. Hardiman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, September 15 at 11AM. Visiting Hours prior to the prayers from 9-11AM.
